About C14 to C13 SPLITTER Power Cords

General

C14 C13 Splitter Cords come in many different length configurations, gauges, and colors. Standard colors are black, blue and red. Custom colors can be made upon request. Standard amperages are 10A, 13A and 15A and standard gauges are 18awg, 16awg, and 14awg. Standard jacket type is SJT. Our splitter cables are available in 2x, 3x and 4x configurations, in 10A, 13A, and 15A varieties. 


Terminology


Branches/Legs - The piece of the cord set between from the splitter box up to the connector. A 2x C13 Splitter would have two branches/legs.

Y Splitter- A splitter cable with 2 branches

Trident Splitter - A splitter cable with 3 branches

Hydra Splitter - A splitter cable with 4 branches


Why use a splitter cable?


Splitter Cables in Data Centers

Splitter power cables are used in data centers to utilize fewer outlets on a PDU. One common method of using splitter cables is for one splitter to connect the PDU on Circuit #1 to the Primary Power Supply on two different servers. Then, connect the PDU on Circuit #2 to the Secondary Power Supply Units on two different servers in the rack. This allows your servers to still have the redundancy of two completely separate circuits. However, if the splitter disconnects from the PDU, two servers will be running on only one power supply unit instead of only one server being disconnected.

Splitters in Homes/Offices

Splitter power cables are used in offices/homes to reduce clutter on a desk. By connecting the C14 to the C13 connector on an existing computer power cable, you can use this as an extension cord with two C13 connectors to connect to your computer and monitor. This allows you to only use 1 outlet for all of your equipment. These splitter cables are also perfect for use in multiple monitor configurations in order to connect all monitors to just one outlet.
