About Z-Lock Plus™ (Z-Lock+) Locking Power Cords
Z-Lock Plus™ — printed Z-Lock+ on the connector and abbreviated ZLP in our part numbers (every SKU begins zLP-) — is the next generation of the Zonit Z-Lock locking power cord. Both ends lock: the C14 or C20 plug locks into the PDU outlet and the C13, C15, C19 or C21 connector locks into the equipment inlet, so a bumped cable or a vibrating rack cannot cut power to a server. World Cord Sets builds every Z-Lock+ cord on its own line in East Windsor, Connecticut, as Zonit's authorized manufacturer; the cord sets are UL Listed under file E360479.
Six upgrades over the original Z-Lock
- Colored ID rings — identify the circuit, feed or rack at a glance instead of tracing cables by hand.
- Integrated sliding-shell release — the shell is the release: a one-hand disconnect replaces the original red tabs.
- Seating line — a visible line confirms the connector is fully engaged.
- Lower-profile nut — sits flush with the housing for tight, high-density outlet spacing.
- Tube labels — clean part identification without rack clutter.
- Built in North America — made on our Connecticut line, with custom lengths, colors, ID rings and labels and no minimum quantity.
About Z-Lock Plus™ (Z-Lock+) Locking Power Cords
Z-Lock Plus, Z-Lock+ or ZLP — one cord, three names
Zonit's product name is Z-Lock Plus™; the connector housings are marked Z-Lock+; and ZLP is the abbreviation on our part numbers, quotes and packing lists. If a PDU manual, a spec sheet or a quote says any of the three, this is the cord. The original Zonit Z-Lock cords remain available — Z-Lock+ is the redesign that succeeds them, and both lock into standard IEC 60320 C13, C14, C19 and C20 outlets and inlets, so no special PDU is needed.
Families and build
- C14 → C13 — 15 A, 250 V on 14 AWG SJT, the rack workhorse; 17 AWG and 18 AWG builds for low-draw equipment.
- C14 → C15 — 15 A on 14 AWG for high-temperature inlets.
- C20 → C19 — 20 A, 250 V on 12 AWG SJT for high-current PDU and server feeds.
- C20 → C21 — 20 A on 12 AWG for high-temperature, high-current inlets.
- Mixed pairs — C20 → C13, C20 → C15 and C14 → C19 where the outlet and the inlet are rated differently.
Eight jacket colors — black, blue, red, white, yellow, orange, gray and green — plus colored ID rings; lengths from 0.5 m to 7.6 m; the 17 AWG builds use H05VV-F cordage. Every cord is hi-pot tested before it ships.
Part of the Zonit power-resilience ecosystem
Pair Z-Lock+ cords with the Zonit Z-ATS automatic transfer switch to bring redundant, automatically switched power to single-corded servers — mission-critical loads stay online without a second power supply. For the wider field, see the locking power cord comparison and the locking power cords guide.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Z-Lock+ the same as Z-Lock Plus and ZLP?
- Yes. Z-Lock Plus™ is Zonit's product name, Z-Lock+ is how it is printed on the connector, and ZLP is the abbreviation World Cord Sets uses in part numbers — every SKU begins zLP-. All three mean the same next-generation dual-locking IEC power cord.
- What is the difference between Z-Lock+ and the original Zonit Z-Lock?
- Z-Lock+ is the redesign of the Zonit Z-Lock: colored ID rings for circuit identification, an integrated sliding-shell release instead of the original red tabs, a visible seating line, a lower-profile locking nut for dense outlet spacing, tube labels, and North American manufacture. Both lock into standard IEC 60320 outlets and inlets.
- Do Z-Lock+ cords work with a standard PDU?
- Yes. Z-Lock+ plugs and connectors lock into standard IEC 60320 C13, C14, C19 and C20 outlets and inlets — no special PDU or equipment inlet is required. The lock is on the cord, so a bumped or pulled cable stays seated.
- Who makes Z-Lock+ cords?
- World Cord Sets builds Z-Lock+ cords on a dedicated line at its East Windsor, Connecticut facility as Zonit's authorized manufacturer. The cord sets are UL Listed under Zonit's file E360479, and every cord is hi-pot tested before it ships.
- Which Z-Lock+ configurations are available?
- Dual-locking C14 to C13, C14 to C15, C20 to C19 and C20 to C21 cords, plus mixed C20 to C13, C20 to C15 and C14 to C19 pairs. 14 AWG for 15 A and 12 AWG for 20 A, with lighter 17 and 18 AWG builds for low-draw equipment; eight jacket colors; lengths from 0.5 m to 7.6 m. Custom lengths, colors, ID rings and labels have no minimum order.
- Do you require a minimum order quantity for Z-Lock+ cords?
- No. Order one Z-Lock+ cord or thousands; volume pricing applies automatically at the quantity breaks shown on each product page, and custom lengths, colors, ID rings and labels carry no minimum either.
