Why locking power cords matter — the numbers
Accidental cord disconnection causes a disproportionate share of data center downtime. Uptime Institute data consistently shows power-related failures account for over half of all significant outages, and human error — including accidental cord pulls during maintenance — contributes to the majority of those incidents.
A standard IEC C13 plug requires roughly 10–20N of force to disconnect. The locking systems below require 120–200N — that's 10 to 20 times more resistant. In a 132 kW AI compute rack where one cord pull can cascade through dozens of servers, the $10 premium per locking cord is one of the best ROI decisions in data center infrastructure.
