3 pin 10 amp vs. 16 amp plug type I & non-grounded version.
The 10 Amp and 16 Amp look identical at a glance; however, the 16 Amp version has a wider grounding blade which prevents it from being inserted into the 10 Amp receptacle. The Type I Configuration also is available, and the amperage rating varies based on the country’s electrical standards, for example AS/NZ 3112 2 pin is rated for 7.5 Amps, while the China GB1002 2 Pin and IRAM 2063 is rated for 2.5 Amps.
Chinese CCC approval agency & China GB2099 and GB1002 standards.
The power cables used in China are built to the GB2099 and GB1002 set of standards respectively. The GB2099 Standard encompasses the 3 pin grounded plugs while the GB1002 covers the 2 pin 2.5 Amp non-grounded plug types. The CCC or China Compulsory Certification is a requirement for products to be marked with before they can be sold in China, both for China made and imported products.
Type I Australian and New Zealand AS/NZS 3112 standards and SAA approval
The TYPE I Plugs used in Australia and New Zealand are built in compliance to AS/NZS 3112 set of standards and bear the SAA Approval, listing them as suitable products for use. Down under there are three primary plug types that are in use. The AS/NZS 3112 2 Pin is rated for 2.5 Amps. The other 2 plug types have ground pins with 3 total pins and are rated for 10 Amps and 15 Amps respectively.
Argentina IRAM 2073 type I plug power cables.
The Argentina Type I Power cables have been built to the standard of the IRAM 2073 and bear the IRAM approval. This cable is found around the world but must have these approvals to be used in Argentina. Argentina also employees UL Argentina for approvals of their cables, however IRAM is the more widely used approval agency for power cables. The electrical outlets in Argentina are the Type I Plug type with 3 angled blade openings for power supply. The plugs generally used are the IRAM 2073 for typical applications, and the IRAM 2063 for smaller devices requiring no more than 2.5 Amperes.
