Does the c14 to c19 cable adapt the voltage or amperage?

No. Both the plug and connector are rated for 120-250 Volts, and the connector is rated for 5 more Amperes than the plug. This does not mean that they will “convert” or “adapt” the power, that can only be done by a transformer. What this cable can do is allow the powering of a “Heavy Duty” IT Cable (C20) to access power from a “Medium Duty” IT Power Source (C13).

Common applications for the c14 to c19 adapter cable.

The IEC-320-C14 to IEC-320-C19 power cords are used when a common iec extension cable will not work. In the event of retro fitting newer equipment to an existing PDU, or vise versa and maybe even a unique piece of equipment in your data rack you will need one of these IEC320 adapter extensions. For example, if you have a Rackmount PDU with only C13 Outlets available and 3 out of four pieces of equipment use a C14 inlet, but one has a C20 Inlet this would be a perfect match! The same applies for the C20 to C13 power cable, with the power source and equipment inlet reversed.

    The IEC 60320 C19 is a grounded 3 Wire connector rated up to 250V and 20 Amps. The C19 mates with a C20 inlet, and is commonly used in a jumper cable scenario in IT Installations providing power from a PDU to a server, router, switch or other computing device. The C19 is typically used in high powered blade server chassis, large network routers, and other IT equipment that draws more power than a standard C13 can accommodate.

About IEC 60320 C14 C19 Power Cords

The IEC-320-C14 to IEC-320-C19 power cords are used when a common iec extension cable will not work. General Information about C14 C19 Power Cord Sets

C14 to C19 Power Cord Sets are used to connect a C13 outlet typically found on a PDU (Power Distribution Unit) to a C20 inlet commonly found on IT equipment. The standard gauge wire used in C14 to C19 jumper cords is 14awg. Standard jacket type is SJT (Service Junior Thermoplastic), however, we can offer these cord sets with other jackets with a short lead time.
