Plug Adapters for Data Center PDU Convenience

It can be challenging to spec in identical plug types for all of your equipment in a Data Cabinet. Since each equipment will have unique power requirements, they are not built identical. If your rackmount PDU does not have a unique plug type, you can easily adapt one of the outlets to a specific outlet type with plug adapters. They are a low cost solution to get your cabinet up and running.

Plug Adapters for Traveling

When traveling, it can seem overwhelming and confusing to figure out the exact power source you will need to connect to charge your devices. Luckily, we stock a variety of international plug type adapters to help send you on your next voyage. Universal Adapter Block

We stock a variety of power adapters that utilize the Universal Connector type. This odd-looking configuration can accept many different plug connections and safely deliver power to your equipment. This configuration accepts NEMA 1-15P, 5-15P, 5-20P, 6-15P, 6-20P, IRAM2073, AS3112 10/15 Amp and many others. To learn more about this universal connector, refer to our Components tab.

    The IEC 60320 C20 is a grounded 3 Wire Plug rated up to 250V and 20 Amps. The C20 mates with a C19 outlet, typically found on Data Center/IT specific PDUs (Power Distribution Unit). The most common configuration for a C20 is in a jumper cable scenario, providing power from a PDU to a blade server chassis, high powered server, large network router, or similar device.

    The NEMA 5-15P is a 3 Wire grounded plug featuring two blades (can be equal or unequal widths due to the ground pin forcing polarity) and one ground pin rated up to 125V AC and 15 Amps. The NEMA 5-15P is your standard household plug used for to connect small appliances such as TV's, Microwaves, hairdryers, etc to a wall outlet. The NEMA 5-15P is compatible with a Nema 5-20R T-Slot outlet, which is commonly found in new home installations.

    The IEC 60320 C13 is a grounded 3 Wire connector rated up to 250V and 15 Amps. The C13 mates with a C14 inlet, and is commonly used in a jumper cable scenario in IT Installations providing power from a PDU to a server, router, switch or other computing device. Most people know the C13 as 'the thing that plugs into my computer' because it is the standard connector used to power most desktop computers. In a desktop computer application, the most common cable is the NEMA 5-15P to C13, which connects your standard North American wall outlet to a desktop computer.

Frequently asked questions

What plug types will the universal socket accept?
Many. NEMA : 1-15p, 5-15p, 5-20p, 6-15p, 6-20p. Universal: IRAM207, AS3112 10 & 15 Amp, GB2009 10 Amp, AFSNIT, CEE7/16, CEE7/4, CEE7/7, SI32, CEI 23-50 10Amp, JIS8303, KSC8305, GOST7396, SABS164-1 6 amp, CNS6797, BS1363 and IEC320 C14.
Will a Plug adapter adapt the voltage?
No. Power Plug adapters do not convert voltage, they only change the configuration allowing you to access the power source. If your power supply is not the same voltage type as what your equipment requires you will need a voltage converter as well.
How to ensure the universal connector will work.?
Check your Voltages. Every electrical device will have a listed operating voltage and frequency. Compare these to the supply voltage of the plug type (we list these in the Components tab) and the operating frequency of the country. If you're using a plug rated for 250 Volts, and your equipment is rated for 125 Volts, you will need a voltage adapter to access the power from the electrical outlet and should not plug in the adapter to the power supply.
